The Social Workers Association of Southwest Somalia (SWASS) was founded by a team of social workers who believe that social workers have a significant role to play in social development. Working several years as professional social work practitioners, and acquiring social work training in higher education, the team of practitioners and educators realized the contribution social work make to Southwest and Somali society. After several meetings and discussions, the members finally decided to found the Social Workers Association of Southwest Somalia as a legal professional institutions licensed by the Regional Administration of the Southwest State of Somalia. The founding of SWASS will give an opportunity for membership to all social work professionals including practitioners and educators by uniting and working together in order to provide service to community, impact policy, and regulate the profession.
