Improving Social Work Education and Field Training

Improving Social Work Education and Field Training

Professional development is a cornerstone of effective social work. SWASS is committed to enhancing the skills and competencies of both students and practitioners through targeted training programs, workshops, and mentorship activities.

Recently, we launched a series of field training support initiatives that help social work students gain real-world experience in community environments. These programs focus on ethical practice, professional standards, and African-centered social development models—ensuring that future social workers are fully equipped to serve society with integrity and compassion.

Educators and field supervisors play a critical role in shaping the next generation of social workers. SWASS works closely with universities and training institutions to ensure that social work education remains relevant, practical, and grounded in the needs of Somali communities.

These efforts contribute to building a strong, capable workforce that can address complex social challenges and uplift communities across the region.
